Types of breast prosthesis models in terms of gender and implant ingredients
Currently, all over the world, three types of implants are used for breast prosthesis:
Silicone breast prosthesis
Saline breast prosthesis
Fixed breast prostheses or gummy bears.
In both silicone and salt water prosthesis models, the breast implant has a silicone outer wall. Also, the difference is in the filler material.
1. Saline breast prosthesis
All types of saline breast implants are filled with sterilized saline. These implants can be pre-filled to the desired size. or to be filled during surgery. in such a way that they are first placed empty in a suitable place and then filled with sterilized salt water. In this way, the surgeon can adjust the filling level of the implant during the operation.
Saline implants are rounder and harder than silicone implants. These breast implants are suitable for women aged 18 and older. But why over 18? Because 18 years is the legal age for cosmetic surgery.
There is another type of saline implants that has a structure inside that gives it a softer and more flexible texture. This structure allows the implants to retain their shape better than conventional saline prostheses. These prostheses have been used in breast prosthesis surgery since 2015.
